THE IMPACT OF PROPER pH ON OUR HEALTH

The pH of the body is important because it affects the function of enzymes and other biological molecules. A pH that is too high or too low can disrupt these functions and lead to various health problems. The pH of the blood is carefully regulated by the body in order to maintain a normal range of 7.35-7.45, which is slightly basic. If the pH deviates outside of this range, it can cause conditions such as acidosis or alkalosis.

If the pH of the body becomes too high (alkaline), it can cause a condition called alkalosis. This can occur due to a variety of causes, including hyperventilation (breathing too fast), kidney failure, or the use of certain medications. Symptoms of alkalosis can include muscle twitching, tingling sensations in the extremities, confusion, and in severe cases, seizures or coma.

If the pH of the body becomes too low (acidic), it can cause a condition called acidosis. This can occur due to a variety of causes, including diabetes, kidney failure, or the use of certain medications. Symptoms of acidosis can include fatigue, confusion, and in severe cases, coma.

It is important to maintain the pH level within the normal range as deviation from it can cause serious health issues.

The Reason for Drinking Water's Acidic Nature

  1. Drinking water can become acidic for a variety of reasons. One common cause is the presence of dissolved carbon dioxide (CO2) in the water, which can form carbonic acid (H2CO3). This can occur naturally in groundwater, or it can be introduced into the water supply through human activities such as mining or industrial processes.
  2. Another possible cause of acidic drinking water is the presence of dissolved metals, such as iron or manganese, which can react with the water to form acidic compounds. Acid rain, caused by the release of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, can also make surface water and groundwater more acidic.

It's important to note that the pH of drinking water should be within a safe range for human consumption which is 6.5 to 8.5, lower or higher than that can cause health issues.

Modern reverse osmosis (RO) systems can be used to reduce the acidity or alkalinity of drinking water.

How does the Water Purification System keep the pH stable?

RO systems work by using a semi-permeable membrane to remove impurities from the water, including dissolved minerals and ions that can affect the pH. By removing these impurities, the RO system can lower the acidity of the water and make it more neutral.

Some ROsystems also include a remineralization stage, which adds back small amounts ofminerals such as calcium and magnesium, which can increase the alkalinity of the water, depending on the source water.

Water Purifier with pH Balance

It's worth noting that the pH of the water is a complex phenomenon and the RO system alone might not be enough to adjust the pH level to the desired range. Additional treatment methods may be necessary depending on the source water.

It's always a good idea to have a professional check your water source and recommend the appropriate treatment method for your specific needs.

Health Problems Caused by pH Disproportion

A lack of proper pH balance in the body can cause a number of health problems. Here are a few examples:

  1. Respiratory issues: When the body becomes too acidic, it can lead to respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, and sinus infections.
  2. Skin problems: An acidic pH can cause dryness, itching, and rashes on the skin.
  3. Digestive issues: An acidic pH in the stomach can lead to indigestion, acid reflux, and stomach ulcers.
  4. Kidney problems: An acidic pH can cause damage to the kidneys and lead to kidney stones.

  5. Immune system problems: A pH imbalance can weaken the immune system and make the body more susceptible to infections and illnesses.

It's important to note that the body naturally regulates pH levels and usually keeping a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables and drinking enough water will help maintain the pH levels. Consult a doctor if you suspect you have a pH imbalance or related health problems.

Methods for Improving Body pH Balance

There are several ways to improve your body's pH balance:

Diet: Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can help alkalize the body. These foods contain high levels of alkaline minerals, such as potassium and magnesium, which help neutralize acidity.

Hydration: Drinking plenty of water can also help alkalize the body. Aim for at least 8-10 cups of water per day.

Limit acidic foods: Processed foods, refined sugars, and artificial sweeteners can all contribute to acidity in the body. Limiting your intake of these foods can help improve pH levels.

Exercise: Regular exercise can help improve circulation and encourage the removal of acid waste from the body.

Supplements: Some supplements, such as magnesium and potassium, can help alkalize the body. However, it's important to consult with a doctor before starting any new supplement regimen.

Practice deep breathing : Deep breathing exercises can help increase the amount of oxygen in the body, which can help neutralize acidity.

It's important to remember that everyone's body is different, so what works for one person may not work for another. If you're concerned about your pH levels, it's best to consult a doctor or a dietitian who can guide you on your journey.
